How to select suitable crushing equipment?

Whether in the field of sand and stone production or construction, a good Crushing Equipment can achieve twice the production efficiency with half the effort. However, the market is full of various crushing equipment, and for first-time buyers, how should they choose crushing equipment?

According to the different structures and working principles, crushing equipment is mainly divided into jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, and hammer crushers.

Jaw crusher: It has the characteristics of high crushing ratio, uniform product size, simple structure, reliable operation, easy maintenance, and economic operating costs. It is widely used for coarse and medium crushing of hard and medium hard rocks, and for crushing various materials with compressive strength not exceeding 320MPa.

Cone Crusher: With high crushing ratio, high efficiency, and uniform particle size, it is mainly used for medium to fine crushing of medium hardness rocks.

Impact Crusher: It can handle materials with a side length of 100-500mm, and its compressive strength can reach up to 350MPa. It has the characteristics of high crushing ratio, cubic particles after crushing, and uniform particle size. It is widely used in stone crushing in highway engineering.

Hammer crusher: suitable for crushing various brittle materials of minerals. The compressive strength of the material shall not exceed 100MPa, and the humidity shall not exceed 15%.

When selecting a crusher, full consideration should be given to the type, hardness, inlet and outlet particle size, production capacity, and construction site of the crushed material.

1. Hardness of materials

Different types of materials have different hardness, and in general, the higher the hardness, the higher the difficulty coefficient of crushing. When crushing hard or medium hard stones, it is advisable to use a jaw crusher as the primary crushing equipment. When crushing medium hard or soft stones, a cone, counterattack, or hammer crusher can be directly used.

If the material specifications and dimensions are large, a jaw crusher can be selected as the primary crusher; When the size of the stone material is small and needs to be composed of a certain grading of stone, a combined crushing and screening equipment needs to be selected, such as a combined crushing equipment consisting of a jaw crusher and a cone or impact crusher or hammer crusher.

2. Humidity of materials

The moisture content of the material also affects the selection of the crusher. When the moisture content is too high, fine-grained materials will clump or stick to coarse-grained materials due to increased humidity, thereby increasing the viscosity of the material, reducing the discharge speed, and reducing productivity. In severe cases, it may even cause blockage of the ore discharge port, affecting the normal production process.

3. The degree of cleavage development of ore

The degree of developed cleavage of ore directly affects the productivity of the crusher. As the ore is prone to fracture along the cleavage surface during crushing, the productivity of the crusher is correspondingly much higher for ore with developed cleavage than for ore with dense crushing structure.

4. Particle size of incoming and outgoing materials

The particle size of the incoming and outgoing materials is used to determine the model and crushing level of the required crushing equipment.

If the content of coarse particles (larger than the size of the ore discharge port) in the crushed material is high or the ratio of the largest ore feeding block to the width of the ore feeding port is large, the crusher needs to achieve a larger crushing ratio (the ratio of the particle size of the material before crushing to the particle size of the material after crushing), resulting in a decrease in productivity.

If the content of fine particles (close to or smaller than the size of the ore discharge port) in the crushed material is high or the ratio of the largest ore feeding block to the width of the ore feeding port is small, the crushing ratio to be achieved is small, so its productivity is correspondingly improved.

If the feed particle size is large and the discharge particle size is small, secondary crushing or multi-stage crushing is often required. If the particle size of the broken material is small, multi-stage crushing is generally not required.

5. Production requirements

The yield requirement is an important indicator that determines the crushing equipment. The higher the yield requirement, the larger the required crushing equipment specification, and the corresponding input and output will increase.

6. Construction site

The specific situation of the construction site is the most direct factor affecting the selection of crusher equipment, such as the size of the construction site, the specific placement position of the crushing equipment, etc.
