Why cone crusher should be selected for hard rock crushing

Hard rock, as the name suggests, refers to rocks with a harder texture, such as granite, basalt, etc. For the crushing of this type of hard rock, jaw crusher, Impact Crusher, and Cone Crusher can often be used. However, from the comparison and analysis of crushing efficiency, finished particle shape, and wear rate, cone crusher is more suitable for the crushing operation of hard rock. The specific introduction of knowledge related to hard rock fragmentation is as follows:

1. Reasons for selecting cone crusher for hard rock crushing

1. Due to the high hardness of hard rock, crushing can cause significant wear and tear to the equipment. The impact crusher adopts the principle of impact crushing, using a high-speed moving plate hammer to impact the material for crushing. The plate hammer is the first to be affected, and the frequency of replacement will be accelerated, which will delay more production time. Choosing a conical crusher is different. It adopts the principle of laminated crushing and utilizes the eccentric movement of the crushing wall to crush the material, greatly reducing wear and tear. Therefore, considering the wear rate alone, conical crushers are more suitable for hard rock crushing than impact crushers;

2. Although the particle shape of hard rock products processed by the cone crusher may not be as good as that of the impact crusher, it has fewer needle like materials and relatively uniform particle size. Furthermore, the cone crusher has high crushing efficiency, so for enterprise users under general production requirements, choosing a cone crusher is still relatively good;

3. From a safety perspective, the cone crusher adopts a spring hydraulic safety device. When there is an unbreakable foreign object in the crushing chamber or the equipment is overloaded, it can automatically increase the discharge port to discharge the foreign object and ensure its safety performance. This is a function that ordinary crushers do not have, so compared to other equipment, the cone crusher is more suitable for hard rock crushing operations.

2. How to achieve hard rock crushing operation with a cone crusher

When the cone crusher is working, the rotation of the electric motor is driven by a belt pulley or coupling, a transmission shaft, and a conical part under the force of the eccentric sleeve to rotate and swing around, forcing the crushing wall to approach and deviate from the surface of the rolled white wall fixed on the adjustment sleeve. This way, the ore will be continuously impacted, squeezed, and bent in the crushing chamber, achieving the crushing of the ore.

3. Process flow of hard rock crushing production line

Generally speaking, when considering the configuration of hard rock crushing production line equipment, in addition to the core hard rock crushing machinery of cone crusher, some Auxiliary Crushing Equipment such as jaw crusher and sand making machine will also be selected to complete the coarse crushing and shaping operations of hard rock materials. The specific crushing process flow is as follows: first, the hard rock is preliminarily compressed and crushed by a jaw crusher, then transported by a conveyor belt to a cone crusher for processing and crushing. Then, it enters a sand making machine for shaping. If there are high requirements for the finished product, a sand washing machine can also be selected for cleaning and screening the finished sand and stone.
